Peter O’Shea Addresses Laurentians
Peter O’Shea of Fine recently gave a lively question-and-answer presentation to members of the Laurentian Chapter of the
Adirondack Mountain Club about his new book,
The Great South Woods II: More to the Story.
Peter, a former New York City police officer, avid outdoor person, and writer of books on hiking and nature, is a passionate advocate for wilderness, working through groups including the Open Space Committee and the Residents’ Committee for the Protection of the Adirondacks. The talk touched upon ongoing changes in the natural environment of the North Country, and made some management recommendations concerning, and cautiously optimistic forecasts for the future prospects of, large wildlife such as moose and cougars in the region. The book is available at TAUNY Gallery in Canton, St. Lawrence University bookstore, the University Bookstore in Potsdam, and Kinney’s locations.
