ADK Seeking Hosts for Johns Brook Lodge
Volunteers needed for all seasons
In late April ADK Headquarters put out a call for volunteers to act as hosts on summer weekends at Johns Brook Lodge, the club’s backcountry lodge near Keene Valley. Now a similar request has been launched for the winter season. These volunteer hosts spend a weekend in appropriate on-site lodgings (summer tenting, winter staying in Henry L. Young Cabin) and eat meals with the guests. Their role is to greet lodge guests and other hikers and provide up-to-date information about the lodge environs and also about the trails.
- be ADK members,
- be over 21 years of age,
- have personal and fairly recent experience hiking in the surrounding mountains at the time of year in question,
- have good communication skills to serve as a link between the public and both the professional lodge crew and a variety of state employees, and
- attend an orientation session. The next one, for the winter season, will be held in November (date to be determined) at ADK Headquarters in Lake George.
