Peter Blood and Toni Towle Finish the 46
On Monday November 7, chapter members and outing leaders Peter Blood and Toni Towle finished their tour of the forty-six High Peaks at the summit of Whiteface.
They climbed their first peak twenty-five years ago. It was a backpack trip that transited Saddleback and Basin, continuing to ascend Marcy the next
day. Reminiscing, the pair marvel at the now-out-of-date-looking gear they were carrying, and the all-cotton clothing they were wearing. All ended well
Over the next couple of decades they hiked occasionally in the mountains, reaching a total of ten peaks, and belonged to the ADK on and off as members
at large. When Peter retired three years ago they set out in earnest to climb the 46, picked a chapter - Laurentian - and joined the ADK "for good", they declare.
Peter and Toni are paddlers, cyclists, and winter enthusiasts as well as hikers. We congratulate them on reaching this milestone, and expect to see them often out on the trails.
