Education Report

July, 2012

Vice-Chair, Education: Betsy Tisdale, 315-265-4721

Once again we have awarded camperships to local students to attend DEC Camp Colby this summer. A boy from Potsdam’s A A Kingston Middle School, Dakota Guyette, will attend in August. A girl from Parishville-Hopkinton School, Anna Kearney, is also looking forward to camp. In her application letter Anna writes, “I live on a farm and we raise a lot of calves, more than 100. My job is to feed them and to check them to make sure they are not sick. I don’t ever get to take very many vacations so it would be great to go to Camp Colby, get a week off, and learn new things. I have 3 brothers and 7 sisters and they all help with the farm too.”

Gaetan Foisy, 14, and his friend Keith Bollt, 15, both of Potsdam, were recruited and supported by our chapter to work with ADK’s high school trail crew in July.

If you would like to help send more boys and girls to Camp Colby and to ADK’s high school trail crew, please send a check for any amount with a note to Treasurer Eleanor Menz, 50 Leary Rd., Colton 13625.
