National Trails Day

A National Trail’s Day event was held June 3-5 in Cranberry Lake.   Event partners were the Adirondck Mt. Club, the Clifton-Fine Economic Development Corporation, Five Ponds Partners, and the SUNY Ranger School.

There were a total of 9 trail projects, which took place in both the Cranberry Lake Wild Forest and the Five Ponds Wilderness Area.  Projects included sidecutting, blowdown removal, water bar construction, installation of rock steps, and everyone’s favorite,      privy relocation.  The work parties included a good number of Laurentian Chapter members, with a strong contingent from Ottawa.

Both the pre-event gathering at the Cranberry Lake Inn and the après work gathering at the Pine Cone were outstanding events with good food, great views, and quality entertainment.  A highlight was the opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones.

Event co-sponsors include the Laurentian Chapter, ALCOA, Harden Furniture, Inc., Lincoln Logs, LTD., Northeastern Loggers Association, Cassella Waste Systems, Inc, Fountain Forestry, Inc., and Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes plus numerous additional groups providing in-kind donations.
